Nkinzi tells the poignant story of 8-year-old Nkinzi. When her parents' tumultuous relationship reaches a breaking point, Nkinzi finds herself alone and decides to leave her home. She encounters Junior, a street-smart boy who becomes her unlikely protector, and together with Junior's sister, Princess, they navigate the challenges of street life and form an unbreakable bond as they embark on a journey to reunite Nkinzi with her family. Nkinzi highlights themes of hope, resilience, friendship, and unlikely family bonds.

Bodastories Productions announces the premiere of Nkinzi movie, a compelling new Ugandan family drama, scheduled for December 14, 2024, at Wonder World, Kansanga. The film will feature two screenings at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

Nkinzi is written and directed by award-winning screen and theatre director, Rehema Nanfuka, behind movies like Veronica’s Wish, Lineage, and popular TV shows like Prestige, Beloved, Damalie, and many more.

The film introduces a cast of talented youngsters including TikTok entertainer, Julie "BabyPassion" Kisakye, Simon Peter Walusimbi, and Lubowa Mayra Ariana who lead an accomplished cast of talent, including Hasifah Nakitende (Nande), Debbie Bakuseka, Lumumba Patrick Lubowa, Mable Kyakoba Renez, Moses K. Ssebunya, and Agnes Kebirungi Knight.

Synopsis: 8-year-old Nkinzi runs away from home during her parents' many fights. She ends up rescued by a ghetto boy called Junior and his sister Princess, together they help Nkinzi find her way back home.  Nkinzi's family rediscovers their love for each other.  The movie reinforces the family values.

Director Bio – Rehema Nanfuka

Rehema Nanfuka is a Ugandan award-winning director, actress, and writer of film, television, and theatre, with over 60 credits to her name. She’s an African Movie Academy winner. She was honored with the Best Director award at the 2018 Uganda Film Festival for directing Veronica’s Wish, a film that scooped most awards that year including the Best Feature Film Award.

Rehema has over 14 years of active work experience in the Ugandan film industry and is the director and producer of the Nkinzi movie. She directed the TV series Beloved which aired on Pearl Magic Prime on DSTV, she was a collaborating director and writer of the award-winning Prestige TV series which aired on DSTV. She’s the current head writer of the Damalie series Season 3. Her other credits as a director for the film include Veronica’s Wish, The 4G Spirit, Lineage, Hiking to Heaven, and Tebandeke’s Dream, among others, plus a wide range of music videos.

Her debut film as a writer and producer titled; Haunted Souls won the best artistic achievement at the Luxor African Film Festival and also won the best foreign film at the Kalasha Film Awards in Kenya, in 2013. It was selected in competition at the African Movie Academy Awards, Durban International Film Festival, and Zanzibar International Film Festival.

Her expertise also extends to Theatre and Rehema has directed several theatre productions like, Betrayal in the City, Slay Queens of Africa, Visions of Destiny, Tropical Fish, Death and the Maiden, and Upside Down for Theater Gegenstand in Germany. She has also acted at the National Theatre in productions like Macbeth, Niqabi Ninja, The Body of a Woman as a Battlefield in the Bosnian War, Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit, Tropical Fish, Just Me You and the Silence, Ga’AD!, among others.

Rehema is also a celebrated Ugandan actress and is credited in films like Queen of Katwe, Imani, Imperial Blue, The Girl in the Yellow Jumper, KafaCoh, Kyenvu, and The Pardon- Imbabazi among others.
