Kizito Samuel Savior's KEMI- The final tragedy scooped two nominations at the Lake International Pan African Film Festival 2020 in Kenya.
The nominations include Best Feature Film and Best Actress for Aisha Kyomugangi. The nominations are the first of their kind for the movie as the Festival and Award season starts.
The movie stars Aisha Kyomuhangi, Symon Base Kalema, Mutebi Farooq, Modesta May among others, and produced by the multi-talented Aisha Kyomuhangi.
The movie talks about a woman that lost her husband at 6 months of her pregnancy and therefore forced out of the family house by the husband's relatives, resorting to staying at her mother's house in the village who also passes away a few days before her delivery.
Kemi (Kemigisha) is later forced to face the world hustle to survive with her baby which makes her realize she could lose the baby in the struggle of raising it, so she decides to let it go but her motherly heart can't let her leave her baby in another person's hands.
The movie premiered on Women's day Sunday 8th March 2020 at Country Cinema Mbarara in Mbarara City and was set to continue its premieres to the rest of the country but was affected by the global pandemic.
The movie will still soon come back to the Cinemas and I would advise you to watch it once it comes.
The movie is directed by Kizito Samuel Savior, produced by Aisha Komuhangi for FAISHA PICTURES INTERNATIONAL and Kizito Samuel Savior still.
Executive produced by CORNELIUS ONYANGO.
Let's just have look at the rest of the crew.
Racheal Mambo is the Director of Photography, Imran Musabbeh is the Production Designer, Kizito Samuel the editor, cast by Aisha Komuhangi and Kizito Samuel, Tumanyane Andrew as production manager and assistant director.
The movie was written by Aisha Komuhangi, Kizito Samuel, and the screenplay was co-written by Josephine Kabahuma.
Kizito Samuel is not new to nominations and honestly, these are not the biggest nominations, we recall his movie The Forbidden had the most international nominations a Ugandan film has ever had including The African Academy nomination.
We continue to congratulate all the Cast and Crew of the movie and continue to implore you to continue working hard for our Ugandan movie industry. We have high hopes that the movie KEMI- The final tragedy will have even more nominations and even win Awards in this coming Festival and Award season.
